Get ready for the ultmate movie experience
Spiderman 2
Well Okay...maybe not the greatest seeing as how i haven't seen the movie yet. But I am going to see it tonight. The review all say it is better than the first one, but really I just want it to be as good as the last one.
The original movie is by far the most perfect movie experience I have had to date. The whole week was set me up for an exciting action movie. But when the Sam Rami delivered Spiderman's crime fighting motivation, his desire for Mary Jane, and friendship to his enemy's son. All of this told a great story. The icing on the cake were: Macho-Man Randy Savage as Bonesaw, Kirsten Dunst is hot, Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin, and Peter Parker at the end of the film foregoing a relationship with Mary Jane for her protection and to be true to his higher calling. "With great power, comes great responsibility."
So if Sam Rami and his team can take the new film to the next level that is great. But I'm not worried. Make it as good as the last and I'm happy.
I made it
4 hours later I've made it up to Fargo. The drive was nice, but when I arrived I wondered why do people live here? Oh, I'm sure it's a nice place.
Time to work on the mail server!
Off to Fargo
Hey folks... Time for a nother busy weekend. I'm driving up to Fargo for the next couple of days. Let me know if there are any messages I should pass on to Sandin & Co.
Good news from Monica VH
Hey everyone... Monica Van Horn (UMM CS Alum) has a new job with IBM in Kansas City. She doesn't start until July 6. Congrats to her and hopefully this will start a trend. I'll be celebrating a new job and have the time and money to visit Monica in KC.
If anyone sees this post your favorite thing about Monica's new job.
My favorite thing: KC is the best place in the coutry for BBQ. So next time I drive down to KC for a rack or two of ribs I have a place to stay, so i don't have to drive straight back.
An apprentice blog
An intersting idea has just popped in my head. A blog on Apprenticeship from an acutal apprentice working in a caftsman based shop. Bob Martin of Object Mentor writes a craftsmanship column in the
C++ Journal, but that is based on a fictious apprentice. It would be cool to see how it would really pan out over a long period of time.
May be this has been done before and I just haven't found it yet. If anyone know of a place like this let me know.
TC Wireless Directory
hey TC wireless folks!!
I didn't know that such a site actually exists. I have yet to verify the quality of their content, but it is very cool that such a place exists. Hoepfully it can be an authoratative site on wireless hotspots in the Twin Ciites Metro Area.

Back in Motown/Goodbye Scott.
With my first free weekend in some time I drove up to the wonderful college on the prarie.
As summer starts to draw in to full swing there was a sending off party for former UMM CSci Scott Lewandowski. Scott is moving from Morris to Marietta College in Marietta, OH.
This was a great time to reconnect. I've been out of the UMM loop for over a year and that is too long. So much of my life was dedicated to the discipline and the school. So much so I should be in regular, almost constant, contact. Life gets busy and sometimes I think that I don't have the time to write an email, but later I'll write it. Later, always later. It takes effort to bounce phone calls or emails back and forth, but it is well worth it.
---
The coversation in the McPhee house flowed nearly seamlessly between the birth of Rock & Roll to books on the "Cognitive Style of Powerpoint." Conversations of such a diverse and random nature are what I miss most from UMM. As usual I took notes, as time has told, when I don't write something down I don't remember it. When my professors talk I listen (or sleep if it class time) and when I listen I take notes or its forgotten.
UMM CSci alumnus Brent Heeringa was in attendance and shared stories from him time under the tooteledge of McPhee, SWL, and the rest of the UMM CSci faculty. I missed other alumni's return to town but I'll not let that stop me. As was leaving Brent commented that we need to keep a place where memories of UMM CSci and be shared and passed on and more importantly(in my mind) where alumni/faculty/staff can stay in contact in a nerdier way: on the web. I second Brent's proposal and will starting working on it tonight.
With all of the randomness I've spilled on to this page I return to why we were together. I am sad to see and era end at UMM. Scott was a great teacher to all of us and hopefully will continue to be a great friend to many of us. Good Luck Scott! And now that I have a reason: I'll be swinging by Ohio as soon as I can.

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Why now! I've got two important job email sitting in my drafts folder, when DNS server decides to give up after a full day of emails.
